Creating Stunning Views in Blagdon Hill

Today we are enjoying the lovely weather and views in Blagdon Hill. An area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the Blackdown Hills, just outside Taunton. You can get a taster of the stunning views that will be seen from every aspect of this converted chapel.

Matthew is installing the rest of the windows and french doors, having started phase one last year. We'll endeavour to add some more pictures tomorrow, as we work our way around the house.

Picture shows new window installed, but shows where the secondary glazing and sound tiles still in place, depicting the bulk savings which the homeowners will now be able to enjoy.

The homeowners have chosen triple glazing, which will give them a significant reduction in the noise from the busy road. It also means they no longer need to have acoustic tiles and secondary glazing on top of their original double glazing shown right (which is unsightly, and with modern glazing advancements, unnecessary). This will give them the added benefits of regaining their deep window sills due to the removal of their secondary glazing windows, and an opportunity to recreate their deep sills in this period stone built house.

They were drawn to PVCu for it's maintenance free properties and choose the Amethyst Range (Duraflex PVCu), as their favourite product for the sympathetic beading detail.

They have also chosen some exciting features for their glazing. Choosing obscured glass detailing in their downstairs bathrooms (due to the unusual internal layout these are eye-level for cars and pedestrians) and privacy is essential. And Anthracite integral blinds to their kitchen window and their guest/grandchildren's bedrooms both for ease of cleaning and child safety.

We are really enjoying working here, and if you are in the local area, why not take a look.

Competent Installation Teams

Make sure you employ competent, qualified tradesmen. Unfortunately the double glazing industry has received some bad press, with "cowboy" builders and installers causing damage to property and using some very unsafe practices. But the industry is working hard to make these stories ones of the past. To avoid these pitfalls, ensure you employ installers who are part of an easily recognised national registration body. We at Fenestra Glazing ensure our installers regularly update their training and qualifications. We don't rely on our installers' qualifications from era's gone by. We make sure our installation teams are fully competent, with an emphasis on continued professional development and qualifications updated at least every five years. We ensure our industry knowledge is up-to-date, and attend regional and national events ensuring our technical knowledge. We are FENSA registered, and go far above and beyond the minimum standards needed for registration. T
